This golf tournament is especially meaningful to us as we honor the memory of our sister, Jennifer, who passed away in May after living with Rett Syndrome for 45 years. For 12 years, we’ve hosted this event, inspired by the challenges she faced every day. Rett Syndrome took away Jennifer’s ability to speak, walk independently, and use her hands, leaving her in constant discomfort and pain. Her remarkable strength and resilience continue to motivate us to keep fighting for a cure, so that other little girls won’t have to endure the same struggles. Every dollar raised goes directly to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, which is leading critical research in the hope of ending this devastating disorder.
Rett Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects girls almost exclusively, causing normal development to regress, with loss of purposeful hand use, distinctive hand movements, difficulties with walking, seizures, and intellectual disability. This tournament has always been our way of channeling Jennifer’s incredible challenges into something positive, transforming our feelings of helplessness into hope for future families facing the same diagnosis. In her absence, we feel an even stronger responsibility to continue her legacy, using our efforts to make a meaningful difference for others affected by Rett Syndrome.
